Overview
김리아갤러리는 2025년 7월 31일부터 8월 16일까지 김영현 개인전 《선잠》을 개최합니다. ‘선잠’은 깊이 들지 못한 채 얕게 머무는 잠, 혹은 잠결과 현실 사이에서 피어나는 환영과 감각의 상태를 뜻합니다. 이번 전시는 현실과 비현실, 평면과 물질, 아름다움과 위태로움이 교차하는 지점에서 감각적으로 구축된 작가의 신작들을 선보입니다.
김영현은 존재하지 않는 세계를 본 적 있는 것처럼 그려내며, 환영과 현실 사이의 모호한 경계를 탐색해왔습니다. 광목 위에 호분을 스며들게 하고, 실을 풀거나 천을 분리하는 방식으로 회화의 물성과 구조에 질문을 던집니다. 완결된 서사를 피한 화면은 균열과 긴장 속에서 감각의 여운을 남깁니다. 이번 전시를 통해 익숙한 정서를 낯설게 바라보는 시선을 마주하고, 그 사이에 머무는 감각의 여운을 함께 나누는 시간이 되기를 바랍니다.
Kimreeaa Gallery is pleased to present Kim Younghyun’s solo exhibition,《Seonjam》, from July 31 to August 16, 2025. The title refers to a state of light sleep—one that lingers just beneath full consciousness, or the elusive space between dreams and waking. This exhibition showcases new works that explore the intersection of reality and illusion, surface and material, beauty and fragility. Kim renders imaginary worlds with a sense of quiet clarity, as if recalling something once seen. Her work persistently navigates the blurred boundary between perception and fiction. Using finely woven cotton soaked with shell powder, she constructs soft, delicate surfaces that reveal both vulnerability and tension. Through gestures such as unthreading or detaching the fabric from its frame, she exposes the instability of the painting’s physical support and expands the language of the medium. By resisting complete narratives, her compositions leave space for rupture and stillness—moments in which illusion wavers and sensation lingers. Through this exhibition, we invite viewers to encounter familiar emotions from unfamiliar angles and to share in the quiet resonance that emerges in between. -
