Oh Dakyo South Korean, b. 1991
-
Overview
Oh Dakyo works with clay to explore the energy of nature and the origins of life. Her encounter with the universe of life within ordinary round pots led her to engage deeply with the tactile and material qualities of clay. Rather than adhering to specific forms, she responds sensitively to the inherent energy of the medium, translating the profound symbolism and expansive energy of the earth into three-dimensional clay forms on burlap. Her creative process reflects the natural flow and rhythm of the environment.
Born in 1991, she holds an MFA in Oriental Painting from Seoul National University and a BA in Plastic Arts from University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. She has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions, developing a distinctive sculptural language.
