Overview
Kimreeaa Gallery presents Ce qui fut sans lumière (April 25 – May 24, 2025), a group exhibition featuring works by Lee Eun Yeoung, Oh Dakyo, and Park Yelim. Though each artist works with a distinct visual language, they share a deep engagement with themes of nature, time, and existence—often returning to “earth” as both material and metaphor. Their works form an organic resonance within the space, echoing the exhibition’s title borrowed from Yves Bonnefoy’s poetry, which reflects a longing to grasp the fleeting presence that lies just beyond memory and perception.
Lee Eun Yeoung presents a fabric installation drawn with charcoal and suspended from the ceiling. Her practice evolves intuitively through touch—shifting as the texture of clay or fabric alters the images in her mind—revealing her belief in staying faithful to the material’s inherent sensibility.
Oh Dakyo and Park Yelim offer a compelling dialogue through clay- and sand-based works. Oh’s works, composed of sand and charcoal on Korean paper, unfold from her fascination with clay as a source of energy and origin. Guided by intuitive responses to the material, she seeks to reveal the invisible forces that underlie the natural world. Park’s recent series, inspired by winter hikes, uses sand not only as earth but as stone, water, and wind—capturing time’s passage through layered textures and chance-driven techniques.
Ce qui fut sans lumière invites viewers to encounter these resonances—rooted in material, shaped by sensation, and reaching toward the depth of being.
